Lady, my very aged doberman (15 years old this April) is back visiting the vet today. We pick her up this evening - they're spaying her.

Gee - that would be like doing this to a grandmother she's so old but she's developed 'hormonal issues' which make it necessary.

This comes just a few months after having to have most of her teeth pulled. She came through that one just fine and has finally forgiven me for it. I told the vet 'but she's 15'. The vet tells me 'but she's in great health'.

I still had to think it over - NOT - because I'm a cheapo (yes I am but not about the dogs, cats, kids and other souls which inhabit my life) but because I hate inflicting unneeded pain on an animal, or anyone for that matter. My thoughts are "but what if it makes it worse and she dies in pain?"

As I am trying (over the phone - Jon took her to the vet for me - nice man) to explain this to the doctor she starts telling me how Lady is bouncing around and greeting everyone and how healthy and happy she is.

OK - so she gets fixed. I am overruled by Ms Social LOL

UPDATE: It appears she's fine. I really didn't think the surgery would go near as well as they planned. I'm very glad I was wrong.
