Just an observation
Nov. 10th, 2004 01:44 pmLooking for something else entirely, I happened to notice how close Maryland is to Niagra Falls, NY. My husband is from Rochester so when I had asked him before about the falls he mentioned it was a long drive and pretty much dismissed the idea out of hand. Huh??
This just showed me yet again that distance is subjective. The falls are around 450 miles from where I live. To me 450 miles isn't that darned far. I used to drive over 150 miles to go to the Oklahoma City airport and not think a thing of it. It has to be (yes I'll look it up because I"m anal that way) over 400 miles from the KS/OK border to Dallas and that was a very easy weekend shopping trip. I used to drive 75 miles ONE WAY to go to work each day and I know people who drove further.
...and yes I know NYC is closer and probably has better shopping but parking is a problem LOL.
**edit entry....it's only around 350 miles to Dallas (seems farther) but I know it's farther to El Paso, Houston, and Lake Charles, LA and all of those have been done as a 'weekend trip'.
