ahhhhhhhh Saturday
Aug. 13th, 2005 05:41 pmOne of my last totally free Saturdays. Though I do adore faire season (and I do) life tends to come to a halt during that time. Often we don't stay late when it's hot but still ... after spending all day or at least part of the day in garb the last thing you want to do is come home and cook a big meal.
In honor of that I am making spaghetti and meatballs tonite. I'm cheating a bit as I don't have any good fresh tomatoes but still yum yum yum.
A point to ponder: someone in an online message board I'm part of mentioned how he spent $$$$$ on garb yet would hesitate to spend that amount on regular clothes for work. Made me think as I have done the same thing multiple times *grin*. If I didn't have to give up my sewing machine in the divorce (caution - don't even get me started on that one) I'd make my own but still ..... it made me think.
Breakfast. Normally I'm a fairly health conscious person but nearly every weekend until it got cool last year I had Scotch Eggs and Cider for breakfast. FOR BREAKFAST!! OMG. I never eat sausage; I rarely even eat fried foods for breakfast, lunch, or supper. I definitely do not make the habit off season to drink alcohol for breakfast but I'll be damned if that wasn't what I was doing nearly every Saturday and Sunday. I've done that in previous years as well.
Lunch was usually fried potatoes (yes but they're good) and a chicken sandwich on croissant or BBQ ribs and beer. Again beer for lunch was commonplace for me in previous years too.
geesh
OK this year I'll still have my Whitbread (love the stuff) but I think I'll stick to iced herbal tea for breakfast and skip the scotch egg...or maybe just have it for a special treat and try to hold off on the alcohol until noon. Definitely odd but it just makes you think. Maybe the Renfaire (see I even capitalized it - I need help LOL) really is a place out of time. Remind me to ask my friendly neighborhood Wiccan about that next time I'm tiptoeing around the fairie circle and holding my ever present brew.

(no subject)
Date: 2005-08-14 10:58 pm (UTC)I do admit I have a pair of Catskill boots. One pair. They are tan with unicorn buttons. I'll show 'em off this season. Especially since I found out about the miracle worker that Magic Eraser is on these things. They are no longer stained with last seasons mud!
I have three tudor gowns.
One Elizabethan bodice and skirt set.
One Leather bodice.
One red corduroy bodice.
seven Italian gowns but I only wear five of 'em. :-)
One Italian surcote.
One Irish gown.
One middle Eastern/Pirate outfit.
And a few projects on the way. By the end of fest, I should have enough gowns to wear a totally different outfit every single day of festival. Now that, is bad.
