ok, so I usually stay to myself or hang with the hubby so I always miss the drama drama drama that can be *faire*. This post will probably make more enemies (than I already have) but I find it strange that everyone seems to think this is a 'faire' thing. Have y'all never been in any other performing arts venue? Symphony? The Local Playhouse? This shit happens when you put creative people together .... some of it is egos, some of it is differing spectrums of personality, some of it is just what happens when too many people are all doing the same thing at the same time with gusto. If it makes anyone feel better the bar scene is the exact same way. Drama Drama Drama
My solution is I just don't want to hear it unless I've been involved from the very beginning. Since I moved out here 5 years ago I guess that would pretty much exclude me. Now the Winfield Symphony drama? Hell yeah I'm sure most of the stuff is still going around there. You remember when they wouldn't let Gary conduct and then Don wouldn't sign autographs and oh hell Greg broke the xylophone right before Mockingbird? The Ponca Playhouse Drama? The 5 changes that happened with the director on Fiddler? Oh and the brooms don't even get me started...when kim deliberately nailed mary in that scene - yeah you remember right? ... canning the lead because she fought with the dad - HER husband we find out. oh hell yes. What? You're not interested? Really? could it be because you don't know who/what I'm talking about.
Yes we have a winner !!!!
I am not discounting that many things are very important to the people who are directly involved (fiery emotions are required for drama to exist) but I'm just scratching my head and saying who? they did what? why? because of who was that again? wait does somebody have a program here I can follow? name tags so I know who I can talk to and who I can't? It's just too hard to follow when I don't even know these people.
Ok, I think I'm done. Just remember - the very nature of faire is going to cause this kind of stuff to happen. It just will. How we all choose to deal with/handle/ignore it is all up to each individual. If it means you won't talk to me that's fine --- just remember you'll have to tell me who you are and that you're ignoring me because I'm probably oblivious to the fact...that is unless you're the one selling my Whitbread in which case I will notice.
..and on another related note - I'm also oblivious when I'm unfriended it appears. Maybe there should be a bell or something...actually I thought there was. Silly me.
***EDIT EDIT EDIT --- this is NOT directly related to any one thing but the ongoing stuff since before summer started. I just want my Whitbread and Wolgemut.
