I got booze for Mother's Day
May. 14th, 2006 04:59 pmok, now that I've attracted the attention of my fellow lushes, yes, my son got me a bottle of Merlot for Mother's Day. I put on my Y!360 blog that some mothers get candy, some get flowers or jewlery, I got booze and Baltimore. Well it's true .....
Yesterday
pyllgrum took me into Baltimore to Fells Point for lunch. Since Slainte was absolutely nuts (there were guys singing and hanging OUT the window I kid you not) we checked the visitors center and she recommended this place over by Little Italy. On the way we stumbled upon One Eye'd Mikes so we figured we'd take our thirsty selves in there. Had a great rueben sandwich, a couple of nice cold beers and some scritches happened upon Duke, the resident owner (pretty yellow lab cross) who also begged me out of some corned beef.
Then we stumbled back toward the water taxi and took it to the Inner Harbor where we saw this nutty dude yelling at the crowd from atop a unicycle holding knives and flaming torches. Of course it was none other than Michael Rosman. Unfortunately the crowds were very pushy so I just got good pictures of his butt *wink*
We then took off for Ft. McHenry. It definitely deserves another trip - especially one where I'm not wearing 3 inch high sandals *sigh* and where I have a camera that is NOT having PMS moments. I so want more pictures of the cannons heh. It also goes to show just how bad my American History teacher really was as I had nary a clue about the Battle of Baltimore and in fact thought the Star Spangled Banner was written during the Revolutionary War somewhere like VA or NY or something. We were too hung up on other aspects of American History like teaching *INCORRECTLY* that we won WWII by bombing a country that already surrendered. (ok mini rant there -- sorry). Later after Slainte had cleared out somewhat we stumbled back in there for an unneeded but quite yummy dinner and some more beer. Oh side note:
mdrf_lumpy and
mdrf_prax we thought about you guys when we were wandering around trying to find an alternate place to eat lunch. We found DuClaw :) For some reason when you mention DuClaw I think of the one in Arundel Mills Mall. Well now we know different LOL
Today the multi-talened
pyllgrum fixed some yummy burgers and steaks and I had the very nice bottle of wine (hey I shared, well some of it), a lovely nap (heh) and now I"m ignoring the laundry after having a delightful (if short) phone call from #2 son.
All in all I'd say it's been a banner weekend *g*
