...and then there were four

About 5 weeks ago we had two visitors come to the house to stay - Jake and Essie.
To say it's been interesting would be an understatement but they've settled in and, in their own ways, taken over parts of our lives to the point I can't remember what it was like without them.
Each evening Jake sits at the 'cat door' (a full glass storm door that the kitties have all decided I purchased for them) and waits for me. As I walk up the walk he greets me with a meow. Usually Essie is on the BIG.Cat toy (aka the staircase) laying on the landing looking for me. Sebastian (my tuxedo) is most often in the kitchen and Sasha (my tabby) is in the dining room. They all look and notice. OK so it's not like when I had a dog - it's not the 'oooh goodie you're home you're home' but more a 'finally - where have you been - I need scratched and petted and hey I can almost see the bottom of my food dish did you bring me anything?' type of greeting but it's a greeting none the less.
While I'm used to Sebastian sitting on the sofa with me while I eat a popsicle, Essie not only sits on the sofa she demands a taste (yes a cat that wants popsicle licks heheheh) and when Sasha would be in the kitchen while I was cooking it wasn't to see what I was cooking but Jake passes judgement on the food and wanders from station to station sniffing the air. He also wakes me up at night to make certain I'm sleeping soundly. *grin*
When I agreed to take the babies, I figured ok yes they'd live with us. I had no idea just how fast they'd become members of the family with their own little quirks and pecadilloes. Nothing quite says love like 4 cats in the kitchen asking if it's supper time - in their own ways of course. Even though we have enough rooms in the house for everyone (people included) to have their own room alone, it's very rare that at least one cat isn't in the room with any human at any given time.
Since this is behind a cut - PICTURES !!!!

Jake at one of his favorite perches

Essie found the catnip LOL She loves the catnip toys

Sasha. She's been my worry wart making sure the new kitties understand where the fridge is and when feeding time is and of course which door has the best view ... important things like that.

Sebastian - my amazon. He so wants to play since he lost his playmate (Archimedes moved when Robert did) but Essie, while she will play, isn't interested in playing with a nearly 20 pound lump of fir that pounces LOL !!!
With all the angst lately, it's wonderful to hear the sound of one of the furbabies purring and giving affection and love.
Of course it's usually feeding time .......
EDIT: thanks to
thewhitedragon and
ca_amethyst for posting about these darlings. I'm so very glad I replied and asked about them. They really are darlings and complete our little family in ways I never dreamed possible :)

Date: 2007-08-12 07:29 pm (UTC)As for the Top Chef contestant now that you mention it .... pig headed and throws people under the bus for his own gain?
Yeah sounds familiar hehehe
It *is* addictive though. I don't watch reality shows but I love Top Chef !

Date: 2007-08-13 12:12 pm (UTC)I need to serious make another appointment with her next Sunday (if she has an opening) for one last trim before MDRF and *gasp* possible highlights (if she does them).
These four are so funny together. They're still finding their own places at times but it works. They don't all get on the bed at the same time because it would appear I'm a favored toy or something - they tend to fuss a bit over who gets to sleep with Mommie.
This means I have a different one at different times at night ... hitting the bed with a THUD.

Date: 2007-08-13 12:39 pm (UTC)I've toyed with leaving my hair just go but the white is just too striking and sparkly against the browns and reds in my hair. I think a little blonde here and there might soften that up.
