Today I'm Posty McPosty or something here. Eitherway ...

This morning I'm getting stuff around, standing on the porch breaking down boxes for recycling and the like, and Lady (my old doberman) wants to go outside. It wasn't very bright out and noone was out so I just let her out front for a bit without her leash. Well I was longer taking care of the recycling than I thought so she wanders back up to the house and goes to the little area between my neighbors porch (we live in townhouses) and my shrubs. I figure she's looking at something so I just continued what I was doing. Then I hear a whimper. She never whimpers. Anyway I called to her and I hear rustles and more whimpers.

I guess her eyesight was worse than we thought. She got lost. I had to go to her and kinda talk her over to where the porch was. Later when she went out I made certain that she 'found' the sidewalk so she could 'find' the house.

Poor baby. She's still a happy baby but I'm going to have to start keeping her on a leash so she knows where she is.

I feel ya, my older one, Kaiya, isn't there yet, but I know she is heading down that dreaded road of doggie old-age. She is 10 and obese. She has arthritis in her hips, so a lot of times she doesn't want to run much, just leisurely stroll and sniff. I give her diet food, and don't overfeed her, so it is just a real catch-22 situation. I think her sniffer is starting to give out, too... blech.

Poor Kaiya - Lady is 15 and just starting to get an older age weight gain. She has gotten so offended that she can't have canned food anymore except 'special occasions'. That could get worse though as we just had to do an emergency spay on her. It was either that or euthanize her and she's just too happy to do that too. I've learned with her that so long as she wishes to be of this earth and is not in pain she will be.
